I cannot believe I am writing about fall already. Wasn’t it just memorial day like 5 seconds ago?! Summer went by way too fast this year!
However, fall is one of my favorite times of the year. The leaves change colors, the air gets crisp, thanksgiving is around the corner 😋, and, of course, my wardrobe gets updated! I’m not yet ready to give up my summer dresses, shorts, and tank tops so I’ve rounded up some of my favorite pieces for transitioning your summer wardrobe into fall!
scarves
I add a scarf to everything in the fall. Jamie even calls it scarf season. With so many different ways to wear them, and so many different options out there, it’s the perfect accent to change up any look. Plus, they add a fun pop of color!
light weight jacket
Throw this on over your jeans and tank top and you’re ready to go! During the next couple months it can still get pretty warm during the day so sometimes you really only need an extra layer in the morning and evening. My go-to is a jean jacket. Everyone needs this closet staple.
booties
My favorite shoe for fall (and even into winter) because they are so versatile! Pair with your summer dresses, or even with shorts, and you’ve instantly updated your look. I’ve recently found waterproof booties that I’m obsessed with — they will be the perfect transition into winter too so now is good time to snag them!
chunky cardigans
I won’t lie — I have a chunky cardigan in my wardrobe year-round. I typically never go anywhere without one. First, you never know when you’re going to get cold (hello, air conditioning) and second, they are so cute to layer over a dress or tank because they add texture and color! So, if you don’t already have this piece, I suggest you start now!
thin sweaters
I love pairing these with shorts and even over a dress or tied around your waist. So comfy to wear and you still look put together. Plus these transition very well into winter too, so I always start off by stocking up on them now. If this is new for you, I always suggest starting with basic colors first — think cream, black, grey, navy. You’ll get the most wear out of them.
felt hats
This is a new one for me. I used to feel soooo silly wearing a hat. I loved them on other people but every time I put one on at home and looked in the mirror I laughed at myself. Well that changed this year. I’m not sure what it was — maybe the confidence to say who cares — but now I want to wear them every single day. And they are the perfect accessory to change your look from summer to fall.
What are you favorite pieces for this time of year?
