always send a thank you note

ALWAYS. Always send a hand-written, United States Postal Service mailed, thank you note. Period.
why?
Handwritten notes are more special than other forms of thank you. Sure, you will thank them in person or through text-message or on the phone, but a handwritten note takes time. It’s thoughtful and warm and the only way to do it.
when?
I always say it’s never too late to send a thank you. However, a good rule of thumb is to send it within a month of receiving the gift. Of course there are exceptions to that - it's okay to send as soon as physically/emotionally capable if it’s for a gift received during an illness or for condolences. Let's be honest, they aren’t sitting and waiting at their mailbox for your thank you; it’s going to be a pleasant surprise that will sure to brighten their day when it’s received.
how?
You can send the thank you on any type of card or paper. Sugar Paper Los Angeles has some really cute monogrammed stationary, or you can shop Amazon and find ones like these adorable floral cards. The ones use I actually designed myself and got printed. I like to always have a stack of thank you cards on hand because you never know when you are going to need them!
what?
Ever sit down to write a thank you (or anything for that matter) and just completely blank out on what to say? Been there. A few times. So I've included a quick little template in case you need help getting started.
Dear Tanya,
Thank you so much for the Eminence face product. I have used it twice already and my skin feels amazing. I can't wait to wash my face - it's the highlight of my day :)
Thanks again,
xo cerri
Simple rule of thumb - thank you greeting, how you plan to use what you were given (or what it means to you), a personal message, thank you sign off.
Also it's a great idea to invest in a nice pen. Always more fun to write if you enjoy the pen you are using. The ones I love are called Le Pen - they write similar to a really thin marker and they come in all kinds of fun colors!
