I’m not gonna lie, this trend is very on-brand for me. Not only do I obsess over all things organization but snacks are my love language. And snackle boxes are basically an organized snack. What more does one need?!
I started using these little containers for Aiden because the portion sizes are a lot better at his age than the kid’s snack bento boxes. It’s an easy way to prep a snack (or even a meal) ahead of time. Throw a few together on a Sunday night and you’re set for the week. It’s also a perfect way to store leftover dinner from the night before to be able to serve him the next day for lunch. Win-win.
I should note, that I leaned young toddler on these since that’s the stage we’re in. Just like the portion size of the bento box isn’t right for us yet, not all snacks are safe for little A to eat right now. So I’ve created toddler-specific snackle box ideas and of course, made them enjoyable for me to eat as well. Because, snacks.
The possibilities for these snackle boxes are endless. The containers I use have five compartments so I started with the base idea of a well-rounded meal: fruit + veggie + protein + fat + carb. Now, don’t hold me to that because not all of my boxes met that standard, but it was a good place to start. After you have your general concept, start thinking in terms of color – everything tastes better when it looks pretty. I mean, we eat with our eyes first, right?! And after that, just have fun with it! Cut foods in fun shapes, layer or stack them differently; it’s the little things that can actually make a huge impact.
The Rainbow
This might be one of my favorites. Everyone loves a ROYGBIV moment. Plus it’s an easy one to replicate and change – swap out the chicken for pineapple and you’ve got a vegetarian option, or do cucumber instead of avocado, orange slices instead of cheddar cheese, tomato or salami instead of strawberries; you get the idea.
The Greek
I have zero idea about the reasoning behind this name other than that’s the first thing that popped into my head when I looked at this photo. I think it’s the grapes – they are a vibe for sure. If you aren’t into the teeny tiny grapes, substitute with regular red grapes, or even blueberries.
The Snack Board
I’ll be honest, this one is because I had leftovers from making a Gather & Graze Snack Board. But it worked out perfectly – kids snack board, toddler snackle box, same same amright?
The Antipasto
It’s the tortellini in this one for me. And yes, you can totally eat this cold – cold tortellini is super good! Toss this together in a bowl, throw a little balsamic glaze and coarse sea salt on top and this could definitely be an adult lunch.
