It’s been awhile since I’ve talked skincare with you guys and over the last couple of years I have really stepped up my game in this department. I was lucky growing up because I never had skin issues so I really didn’t think twice about taking good care of my skin. There was nothing to take care of! So in my twenties, I called a bar of soap and Aveeno daily moisturizer my skincare routine.

Well, then I turned thirty and realized it was really all more about preventative care, so now I’m playing catch up. Therefore, I took a deep dive into skincare this year to revamped my entire routine. I also fell in love with a new brand called Tula. They use probiotics in their products which act as a natural protective shield, boost healthy looking skin, help to sooth and calm as well as target signs of aging. Their products are also 100% free from phthalates, parbens, propylene glycol, petrolatum, gluten, and mineral oil. Basically I like my skincare like I like my people: nontoxic.

First, it’s important to know the order in which products should be applied. What helped me the most with this, is to remember thinnest to thickest. For example, you will apply an oil before a cream. I’ve also made a little graphic for you below. Feel free to save it, print it, pin it, whatever you need to help you remember.

AM skincare Routine

Step 1: Cleanser

You always want to start with clean skin, so I wash my face twice. The reason behind double cleansing is the first wash removes makeup, dirt and grim, while the second wash really washes your actual skin. I’ve been doing this for a few months now and really starting to notice a difference.

Product I use: Tula — The Cult Classic: Purifying Face Cleanser.

Step 2: Toner

Next, apply a toner. This removes any dead skin cells and excess dirt and oil from your skin. It also removes impurities and diminishes the appearance of pores after cleansing. Usually applied with a cotton pad.

Product I use: Tula — Get Toned: Pro-Glycolic 10% PH Resurfacing Toner

Step 3: Serum

Serums contain topical antioxidants (like vitamin A, C and E) that help to even out your skin tone. A serum acts as a targeted treatment for wrinkles, redness and pigmentation.

Product I use: Drunk Elephant — C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum

Step 4: Eye Cream

Eye creams are great for blurring the appearance of lines, wrinkles and dark circles. It can also help reduce the look of puffiness in the eye area.

Product I use: Tula — Revive & Rewind: Revitalizing Eye Cream

Step 5: Eye Balm

Delivering an instant pick-me-up, an eye balm gives you immediate cooling, hydration and flow so you can look refreshed and energized.

Product I use: Tula — Glow & Get It: Cooling & Brightening Eye Balm

Step 6: Moisturizer

You skin needs lots of moisture; especially if it’s dry like mine. A moisturizer can help firm skin and improve the look of fine lines and wrinkles. It also locks in moisture for deep hydration and nourishment.

Product I use: Tula — 24-7 Moisture: Hydrating Day and Night Cream

Step 7: Sunscreen

Always wear sunscreen! Even when it’s not sunny out. Minerals zinc oxide and titanium dioxide offer UVA/UVB protection that physically shields the skin from harmful rays. Sunscreens are now including protection against blue light — which is a must for both indoors and outdoors! Tula just came out with a Protect + Glow Daily Sunscreen that I have heard amazing things about.

Product I use: Sdara Skincare — Zinc Oxide Sunscreen

PM skincare Routine

Step 1: Cleanser

Same first step as my morning routine — you have to wash the day away and prep your skin for the amazing products you are about to use.

Product I use: Tula — The Cult Classic: Purifying Face Cleanser

Step : Toner

Again, the first product to use on your freshly cleaned skin.

Product I use: Tula — Get Toned: Pro-Glycolic 10% PH Resurfacing Toner

Step 3: Serum

Your skin does the bulk of its repairing as we sleep, so most serums are better used at night. And depending on your skin needs, you can change up which product you use. This is also the time to use a retinal if you need to. I haven’t tried any yet, but I just purchased A-Passioni Retinol Cream so I’ll keep you posted.

Product I use: Drunk Elephant — Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum

Step 4: Oil

Adding oil to your routine just adds another layer of moisture. The one I use re-hydrates and revitalizes dry skin or any skin in need of replenishment and deep renewal.

Product I use: Hervibore — Phoenix Cell Regenerating Facial Oil

Step 5: Eye Cream

You can use a richer eye cream at night if you need to. Look for a high concentration of peptides and antioxidants.

Product I use: Tula — Revive & Rewind: Revitalizing Eye Cream

Step 6: Moisturizer

Night time is also the best time to use a heavier moisturizer if you need it as well. I also rotate in the Overnight Repair Treatment to make sure my skin is getting lots of hydration.

Product I use: Summer Fridays — Jet Lag Mask

Step 7: Lip Mask

This one is new for me as of a couple weeks ago and I absolutely love it. Your lips definitely deserve some extra love at night.

Product I use: Laneige — Lip Sleeping Mask
