This chocolate chip cookie recipe is the first recipe I ever baked by myself. It’s so easy and so hard to mess up that it basically was the gateway into me loving to bake. I also love that most of the ingredients are ones we always have on hand; so when the craving for something sweet comes at 8pm on a Tuesday, I don’t have to run to the store.
It’s also only two steps so you aren’t stuck in the kitchen for hours. Throw all the wet ingredients into a bowl and mix it up; then add the dry ingredients and mix it up. And that’s it! Ball ‘em up and bake ‘em! I usually make a batch of dough and only bake a dozen at a time; it’s nice to have fresh baked cookies everyday.
Once you get this recipe down it’s also fun to play with and add to — my mom loves to include macadamia nuts in hers and I just found caramel balls that I can’t wait to use in my next batch! Make sure to share your creations with #cerriouslyimadeit so I can see!
