a festive af halloween snack board

I’m going to be honest, Halloween is not my thing. Never has been. Dressing up and asking strangers for candy? I just don’t understand it.
Now, I do realized that just because I don’t like it doesn’t mean everyone around me doesn’t either. So I thought it would be fun to share what I would do for a Halloween party. You know I love my boards, and this one is no exception. It’s festive AF and it’s very delicious.
Having a party or a few friends (and even their kids) over to celebrate? This board is a total crowd pleaser for all ages.
First I started with finding these adorable ghost and witch candy bowls at Target. They were in their dollar section so I couldn’t find them online, but anything like this pumpkin mouth candy bowl or this ceramic candy bowl will work. Place these on your tray first as they will take up the most room.
The first thing to make are the bones, ghosts and mummies— these all need time to harden. The bones are just a pretzel stick with a marshmallow on both ends. Just melt white chocolate in the microwave or double boiler and dip them in. This Worthey Life has a good tutorial in case you need extra help. The ghosts and mummies are a rice krispies treat with the same white chocolate. The ghosts I dunked in and just topped with Wilton candy eyeballs. The mummies I drizzled the chocolate back and forth and then finished with eyeballs. You can also use a tube of icing for this if you have one — it makes more precise lines.
Next, I made the Oreo spiders and witches brooms. I recommend using double stuf Oreos for the spiders. I attempted with the Halloween pack because I didn’t want to buy both but I broke so many that it would have been worth it! The legs are made out of pretzel sticks, just broken in half and the eyes are the same eyeballs held on with icing. For the brooms, use the pretzel sticks (unbroken) and a Reese’s peanut butter cup.
Last to make are the witches hats. These are a peppermint pattie topped with a Hershey’s kiss, held together with icing. Dab a little icing on the bottom of the kiss to hold it to the pattie and then outline it with more icing.
Then just start filling your board! I started with the larger items like Oreos (not the spiders), fill your bowls up, and place the clementine pumpkins (these are just peeled and topped with their own stem). I used Popcornopolis Monster Mini Cones for the popcorn element. They come in so many great flavors and you can save some of the extra cones for an additional snack — these are available at Costco or on their website.
The same rule applies for this board as a meat and cheese one — fill, fill fill.

Board or Platter — I used the same board I always use. It’s my favorite. But you can use any platter or serving tray that you have!
Small Bowls — This set from Williams Sonoma comes with 4 bowls and I used one of them to hold the M&M’s. These are nice because they are simple and blend in with the board.
Halloween Themed Candy Bowls — again, if you can make it to Target and check the dollar section I highly recommend it. Otherwise, there’s a few options for open mouth candy bowls online to choose from!
