my baby registry with babylist

I feel like I should start this by saying I am not an expert in anything baby. I mean, I’m not even a mom yet, so when I share my baby registry items with you please know these are all recommendations from friends, family, and our community over on Instagram. When I asked for your “must-have items” and the “you can pass on these things” you guys came in with all the best suggestions.

I went back and forth on where to register – my go-to for shopping is typically Amazon and Target so I thought to choose one of those. Target actually does a universal registry option where you can add things from other retailers as well as Target which is super convenient. However, when I discovered Babylist it was a no-brainer for me. Not only is Babylist a universal registry, but it also gives the shopper various options from different retailers comparing prices of the same item. So if Nordstrom is selling the item for one price, and Pottery Barn Kids is selling it for another, the gift giver will be able to see that and choose where to purchase from! It’s like having a personal shopper! Babylist also has its own store with exclusive items like sample boxes and brand collaborations that make for great gifts as well. So below I’m sharing with you everything I registered for with Babylist!

nursery

I knew whether we were having a boy or a girl that I wanted a neutral nursery. I like that I can transition it by season, and even by gender (hello, baby number 2!). I plan on adding some color to the room through sheets (like the blue ones shown below), pillows, decor on the wall, you get the idea, but definitely steered clear of any type of theme.

And no, I did not actually register for people to purchase the furniture, but pro tip – add it to your registry anyways (even if it’s in a private section) because most registries give you a discount after your baby shower date to purchase the remainder of your registry.

transportation + gear

This one caused me some headache. Picking the right stroller and car seat is a nightmare, I’m not going to lie to you. I read so many blog posts and reviews and comparison charts. Then watched videos and tutorials to see which was the best fit for us. And that’s exactly what it came down to – the best fit for us. I finally realized there is no such thing as the best stroller or the best car seat. They are all great and have their own unique features (plus a ton of the same ones too). So it really came down to when we were going to use it and for what.

Don't even get me started on baby gear 😳 there are so many differing opinions on all the products. Some people said they can’t live without them while other people claimed they were a waste of money and never used. Basically it’s all about what your baby prefers and we’re not going to know that until he’s here…so I decided not to register for the swings or the jumpers or the bouncing this and that. First off, we have zero room in our house for extra stuff, but most importantly, if we decide we want to try it out with him, then we can go buy it – I hear Facebook Marketplace is an awesome resource for that.

feeding

These were probably my favorite things to pick out. I love food and everything related to eating 😂 No but seriously, picking out plates and gadgets was the most fun. I realize it’s a little ways away, but I cannot wait to make all the baby food! One thing that was super important for us, and might not be for someone else, was the bottle sterilizer. We currently do not have a dishwasher in our house so we needed something to make sure our bottles were properly cleaned.

diapering + toys

I took all the recommendations for this section because I had zero idea what I wanted or needed. I also didn’t register for diapers or wipes because I figured I’d stock up at Costco 🤷🏻‍♀️. I love the cute designs from Hello Bello, but like, do we really need to spend that much money on something that gets thrown out seven times a day?! I think not. Maybe I’ll save that for the tail end of the diaper stage. We shall see.

Toys were very minimal for me (again, because we just don’t have the room for a ton) but I love the subscription box idea from Loveverly. It’s a great way to get age-appropriate toys that won’t feel like baby took over the entire house.

bath + health & safety

Finding cute bath towels and toys proved super hard for me. This probably goes back to my “I don’t want a theme” thing. Everything is either an animal or print of some kind. I finally stumbled upon a brand called Natemia and I’m really hoping their stuff is as great in person as it looks online! They have great basic products in the best colors. And yes, I added in a shark because I felt pressured 😂 plus Jamie loves anything ocean-related so it works.

For health & safety products I stuck to FridaBaby for almost everything. They have kits that contain the basics of what you need and I figured it would be the perfect starting point until we had a need for more.

general

Some extra stuff that are definite essentials. I love the sample boxes that Babylist created – what a perfect way to find out what baby likes! This way we can test out a few things and go buy multiple of the one that he ends up loving.

Also, you guys know how much I love anything personalized, so I could not pass up his name on a teething ring 😍
